The AAO hosted the 2017 Emerging Leaders Conference in Fort Lauderdale just prior to the 2017 Winter Conference. The 72 participants included second- and third-year residents, younger members in practice for 10 years or less and established orthodontists in practice for more than 10 years. Members of the AAO Board of Trustees, staff and constituent executive directors also attended.
Participants provided input on a variety of issues within the specialty and the AAO, and learned about AAO resources, strategic planning and volunteer opportunities.
The meeting also included leadership training and a presentation by keynote speaker Andrew Miller. An expert in operational excellence, Mr. Miller works with world-class organizations to help them accelerate growth and maximize profitability.
The Emerging Leaders meeting takes place every two years. The next meeting will be in 2019.
