Doctors and orthodontic team members are invited to participate in Hands-on Workshops taking place Friday afternoon, May 1 at the 2020 Annual Session in Atlanta.

The small class size allows for ample interaction with instructors and their assistants, but these always-popular workshops are expected to fill quickly. The following workshops are available for doctors and team members:

Building Clear Aligners In-house for Tooth Movement (2.0 CE)
Instructor: Dr. Neil Warshawsky *
Ticket Price: $50
Learn the difference between the three main theories of removable clear aligner therapy. Then, build two clear aligners and a HIT retainer. Materials will be provided by the instructor.

Patient Photography Made Easy (2.0 CE)
Instructor: Rita Bauer **
Ticket Price: $50
Fine tune your exposure settings and techniques to consistently take excellent clinical photos for patient documentation and treatment planning. Participants are asked to bring their own clinical camera with fully charged batteries, memory card, retractors, mirrors and gloves.

Video for Orthodontic Practices: Learn to Shoot, Edit and Upload Like a Pro! (1.50 CE)
Instructor: Dusty Green ***

Learn the basic steps of the video production process, with an eye specifically toward shooting videos in a fast-paced orthodontic office setting. Participants are asked to bring an Android or iPhone smartphone or tablet with the app, “InShot-Video Editor” by InstaShot Inc. installed (trial version available).

The following workshop is available to team members:

Step It In, Step It Out: What those Bends are all About!! (1.50 CE)
Instructor: Dr. Douglas Depew ****
Ticket Price $30
This workshop will focus on different bends that clinical assistants or lab technicians may be required to make, or at least recognize, in orthodontic arch wires and large diameter wires for adjustment of retainers, lip bumpers and headgears. Wire bending exercises will be featured and participants are asked to bring the following wire bending pliers: a three-prong plier (#344) and a Bird Beak Plier (#139).

* A leading authority on patient photography in orthodontic practices, Rita Bauer has spent 30+ years as a medical photographer and manager of Media Services at the University of Toronto and Bauer Seminars Inc. She has trained thousands of dental professionals and their teams in patient photography, transforming inexperienced photographers into enthusiastic, competent digital camera users and giving experienced photographers plenty of tips to make a difference in their daily routine.

** In addition to being an Emmy nominated television host, producer, videographer and director of the nationally-broadcast PBS travel show “Two for the Road,” Dusty Green is president of OrthoMedia, a video production company specializing in video marketing for orthodontic practices and the orthodontic industry.

*** Dr. Neil Warshawsky is an associate professor of orthodontics at the Craniofacial Center at the University of Illinois Health Center. With more than 18 years of cleft palate team experience and a vast knowledge of 3D imaging, he manages a large majority of the craniofacial cleft palate orthodontic cases. He also owns and operates Get It Straight Orthodontics, based in suburban Chicago.

**** Recognized for his expertise in training orthodontic staff, Dr. Douglas Depew is the founder and academic director of AAO-endorsed Trapezio, home of the Academy of Orthodontic Assisting. He is also the Chair of the AAO Committee on Technology (C-TECH), and owns Depew Orthodontics, located in Kennesaw and Acworth, Georgia.
