How to Reinstate Your AAO Membership

To reinstate your AAO membership, identify the member type below that applies to you and follow the instructions provided. Please note: the AAO membership year runs June 1st through May 31st.

Student Membership (U.S. and Canada)

  • To reinstate your membership, pay the current year’s dues in the amount of $30 by phone (800-424-2841 x518), or re-apply online.
  • Student Membership eligibility continues through May 31st of the year following your orthodontic residency graduation.

Active Membership (U.S. and Canada)

  • To reinstate your membership, contact the AAO Member Service Center at 800-424-2841 x518 or membership@aaortho.org.
  • If this is your first or second time being reinstated, you will owe dues and assessment for only the current membership year with no reinstatement fee.
  • Dues installments may be available upon request to meet your budgetary needs.
  • If you are within your first four years after completing your orthodontic education, you may qualify for a dues and assessment discount.

Retired Membership

  • If you are retired, were an AAO member in good standing at the time of retirement and have at least 15 accumulative years of AAO membership (excluding Student Membership), you may be eligible for retired status.
    • To apply for retired member status, complete this application and return in accordance with the instructions at the bottom of the page.
  • Retired members receive all the benefits of AAO membership for no cost or only $36 annually to receive the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJO-DO).

International Student Membership

  • To reinstate your membership, pay the current year’s dues in the amount of $30 by phone (+001-314-993-1700 x518) or fax (+001-314-993-6992).
  • International Student Membership eligibility continues through May 31st of the year following the completion of your orthodontic residency/training.
  • Note: membership in the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) is required to be eligible for AAO International Student Membership. To reinstate your WFO membership visit www.wfo.org/membership/membership-re-instatement/.

International Membership

  • To reinstate your membership, pay the current year’s membership dues in the amount of $396.50 by phone (+001-314-993-1700 x518) or fax (+001-314-993-6992). If you are currently a member of the World Federation of Orthodnotists (WFO), you may also re-apply online.
  • Note: membership in the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO) is required to be eligible for AAO International Membership. This requirement does not apply to graduates of accredited orthodontic programs in the United States and Canada.
